Dog Pug Cat Finlayson

Cat Finlayson

Cat Finlayson went to school in Scotland but lived in the jungles/coral cayes of Belize. After art college she switched to a BSc in Biological Imaging, becoming a gallery manager/guide at London’s Natural History Museum. Work as a Field Studies Instructor in Dorset led to a Science PGCE (secondary school Biology). She discovered face painting when teaching in a Suffolk Zoo and adored it.

Whilst a Wildlife Trust Education Officer running a Nature Reserve, Cat began winning face art competitions. In 2006 she moved to Hong Kong with her husband and became a full-time face painter. Her first year as an artist she won UK Professional Face Painter of the Year and came 5th in the World Championships. The next year she painted her first body, and is now gaining titles in that area. She also pioneered body glitter tattoos, allowing performers to sparkle amazingly in sweat-proof artwork.

Cat now lives in Norfolk but paints and teaches face, body and glitter art and a range of crafty subjects worldwide. She is lucky enough to be the resident face painter at Bewilderwood, and the official body painter for the annual Hong Kong Rugby 7s. Other creative outlets include glittering costumes for performers and making wings, murals, illustrations and ‘props’ to order. Her art often reflects her love of wildlife, science, and getting people involved/looking closer… but don’t be surprised if she’s dressed as some sort of colourful fairy to amuse the kids!
