Debbie Leeming Childminder

Debbie Leeming is a registered childminder in Spixworth, just outside Norwich. When she heard the Gorillas were coming to Norwich this summer she decided with the children to do a sponsored walk to raise the money to take part.

On a very cold day in February some 50 children aged between 18 months & 16 years together with 17 adults took to the streets of the village to complete a sponsored treasure hunt. Some children brought their monkeys with them, others dressed as them!

The clues had to be solved and the letters jumbled to make a fruit children and gorillas love to eat (blueberries!) The children received a certificate and a gorilla key ring as a mememto of the day.

The Parish Council kindly donated £100.00 to start off the funds and by the time all the money came in they had raised enough for their gorilla plus a further £200 that they kindly donated to the charities involved (Break and Born Free).

They are very near to completion of “Rilla” he has been decopatched with lots of pictures of the children, gorillas, their environment, what they eat and activities they take part in. He looks like he is wearing a onesie!!
The children are all very excited to find out where he will be on the trail this summer and are looking forward to going to visit him.
When he returns to Spixworth he will be going on a grand tour with the children taking him along to their activity groups, brownies, beavers, dance etc.
